Dr. Leena Vilas Gaikar is the Head of the Department of Chemistry She is a dedicated academician with strong expertise in chemical sciences and a commitment to quality teaching, research, and student development. She holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry, and a (PGDTA). With her strong academic background and professional training, she contributes significantly to curriculum delivery, academic planning, and departmental development.
Dr. Gaikar has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate level and is known for her student-centric teaching approach. She actively promotes practical learning, analytical thinking, and research orientation among students. Under her leadership, the department emphasizes laboratory skill development, scientific accuracy, and safety practices.
She is actively involved in academic activities such as seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and research initiatives. She encourages students to participate in science exhibitions, research projects, and co-curricular academic activities to enhance their scientific outlook and confidence.
As Head of the Department, Dr. Gaikar focuses on maintaining academic excellence, strengthening laboratory infrastructure, promoting green chemistry and environmental awareness, and preparing students for higher education and career opportunities in science and allied fields.
She has also served as Head of the Department of Chemistry at Sidharth College of Arts, Commerce and Science. Her research encompasses areas such as ion-exchange materials, wastewater treatment, nanostructured materials, and blockchain-enabled supply chains.
